Late Notice is a group of talented teenagers who take jazz seriously. The band was founded in fall 2005 by a few friends who wanted to play jazz music together. In the past four years, we have performed at countless events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and have been featured in newspaper articles from the Palo Alto Weekly, the Palo Alto Daily News, and The Campanile. We play jazz and funk, and have a repertoire of jazz standards.
Late Notice is currently on hiatus since all seven members are currently in college. We may be available for hire during the summer.
Members:

Grant Audet - Trumpet
Bio: Grant is a graduate of Palo Alto High School and currently attends UC Berkeley. He hopes to pursue studies in economics and history. Grant has studied classical piano for 12 years and played trumpet for 7. He has greatly enjoyed his time playing in Late Notice and hopes to continue music throughout his life. Grant also enjoys playing tennis, running, and reading. If Grant could be any animal, he says he would be an elephant.

Evan Gitterman - Bass, Alto Sax
Bio: Hi, I'm Evan, a Palo Alto High School graduate like the rest of the band and currently attending Stanford University. My first instrument, like many others, was piano, which I started in 2nd grade. I played that through 6th grade, before stopping to focus on sax. My saxophonic career started in 4th grade, and I started teaching myself bass freshman year of high school. In addition to instrumental music, I sing, create electronic music and mashups, DJ for dance parties, compose, arrange, produce, and record. My music library is far too expansive to even glimpse into in a short bio, but it can be summed up as "everything but mainstream country".

Matt Segall - Tenor & Alto Sax
Bio: Hey I'm Matt. My musical career started at piano when I was 8 and I left that in 5th grade for the clairinet, a starting point for the sax in 6th grade. When I heard the jazz band at my middle school, It was like love at first sight. I believe Straight, No Chaser by Thelonious Monk and Birdland By Weather Report were the two I heard. Now, thankfully, my musical taste has expanded into more Jazz: Anton Schwartz, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Bud Powell, my enheathily large collection of Charlie Parker, Chick Corea, Eddie Harris, The Heath Brothers, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Joe Henderson, John Coltrane, Marcus Miller, Michael Brecker, Miles Davis, Milt Jackson, Oliver Nelson, Ornette Coleman, Oscar Petersen, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Taylor Eigsti, Thelonious Monk, VICTOR WOOTEN, Wynton Marsalis, Yosvany Terry Cabrera; Rock: The Beatles, BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS, Dave Matthews Band, Dispatch, Dream Theater, Eric Clapton, Liquid Tension Experiment, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Led Zeppelin, O.A.R, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Santana, The Who; R&/Soul: Average White Band, Bootsy Collins, Earth, With and Wire, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, TOWER OF POWER. Yeah, so I'd say music is pretty much my life, and remember "Do not go where a path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." -Ralph Waldo Emerson. I'm out.
Elliot Sanborn - Tenor Sax, Keyboards
Bio: Hullooo...this is Elliot. Here's the story of my life, beginning with... My musical career began with piano say... 5 years ago, pretty much as soon as I moved to the U.S. from Hong Kong, China. In 5th grade, I began playing clarinet in the school band and continued in school and ECYS band through 6th grade. Back in the summer of '04, I began playing jazz and tenor sax. Since joining Late Notice, I've focused on tenor and stopped taking regular classical piano and clarinet lessons. At home, I have a pair of brother (older/younger) and a full set of parents (and toes too, for that matter...). Everyone in my family plays or has played a variety of instruments; music is a big thing in my family. Over the years, our neighbors have been brutally subjected to a variety of classical, jazz, ragtime, funk, more classical, and some pretty raunchy hill-billie songs (please, don't ask...). They return the favor by supplying a continuous 6 years of construction noises; I, in turn kick numerous soccer balls into their yards on an hourly basis. Outside of music, I enjoy math, soccer, in addition to just about any sport, non-competitively, (baseball and football excluded), eating, sleeping, eating while playing sax, watching someone eat while playing the sax (highly amusing), learning Chinese, Spanish and Swahili (except Swahili) and simply living a life of "generally controlled chaos". Another favorite pastime of mine is writing extraordinarily long sentences in excessively lengthy bios, featuring an acquired sense of humor.
Elliot is attending Dartmouth College in New Hampshire where he hope to continues studies in both piano and tenor sax. Elliot is interested in social sciences, foreign languages and international studies.

Ben Sklaroff - Keyboards
Bio: I’m Ben, the keyboardist for Late Notice. I do anything else that’s fun, computer programming, math, piano, running, soccer, and tennis (in alphabetical order). I also like learning in general, and I like languages- I’m learning Spanish and Mandarin. Obviously, I’ve played piano for a while, since second grade, and learned jazz piano in order to join Late Notice at the beginning of eighth grade. I love some bands from almost all genres of music. Country is a notable exception. My iPod is especially weighted towards Jazz and Progressive Rock. My hands are big and normally cold, which is good for piano and bad for skiing. I like both anyways though. I’d rather be practicing piano for a few hours than sitting through most of school. And to wrap it up, I’d like to remind everyone to be more honest. Thank you.

Chris Tang - Guitar, Bass
Bio: Hey, I am Chris, and I am the guitarist in Late Notice. I have been in the band ever since it started. I have an Ibanez semi-hollow body electric guitar which I use for jazz tunes, and a Schecter C-1 Diamond Series Classic which I use for funk and rock outside of Late Notice. I have been playing guitar since I was 6. When I listen to music, I listen to a lot of rock, some jazz, and some funk. Some artists I listen to are Eric Clapton, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Bob Marley, Victor Wooten, The Beatles, Story of the Year, Bob Dylan, the Clash, Eagles, Metallica, Sublime, Maynard Ferguson, and many others. Most of all in the world of music, I consider Eric Clapton to be a living legend who just keeps getting better with time. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar (obviously), rock climbing, playing soccer, and writing songs. I also have played classical cello (and some jazz cello at Stanford Jazz Camp) since I was 9.

Julian Pitt - Drums
Hi, I'm Julian. I love every aspect of music: listening to it, watching it, and playing it. I've been playing drums and all percussion since I was six and I also fool around on bass, guitar, and piano for fun. I'm proud to have versatile music taste and I love to hear and play many, many types of music, from classical to rock, reggae to folk. I love going to concerts and seeing the way artists change their music during live performances. I'm into bikes, cars and all things mechanical, and plan to study Mechanical Engineering.
